Luverne edges Marshall in girls tennis

The Luverne High School girls tennis team defeated Marshall 4-3 on Monday.

Some of the matches were extremely tight.

The Cardinals won two singles matches as Elise Jarchow beat Eden Knudson 6-0, 6-4 at No. 2 and Ainslie Robinson topped Leah Matzner 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3. Luverne's Olivia Wieneke and Jacey Smith won at No. 2 doubles, and Brynn Thier and Kristin Rud won at No. 3 doubles.

Marshall captured No. 1 singles as Gionna Parsa clipped Roz Oye 7-5, 6-3. And Marshall's No. 4 singles player, Mariah Bergjord, was a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 winner over Mia Wenzel.

The Tigers' No. 1 doubles team of Leah Schaefer and Regan Loft defeated Luverne's Lauren Ver Steeg and Liz Kelm 6-4, 3-6, 14-12.
