LAKE PARK -- Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Grant Brouwer could not be stopped. The junior tallied 22 points in the third quarter as the Generals got the better of Harris-Lake Park 82-71 Monday night in a high school boys basketball game.

Brouwer had just two points at halftime. But the Generals, who led just 38-33 at intermission, outscored the Wolves 29-16 in the third quarter thanks to Brouwer’s sharpshooting.

Preston Marco with 18 points and Caleb Mayer with 13 assisted S-O’s cause.


Freshman Bubba Sohn scored 23 points for Harris-Lake Park. Bret Sohn scored 18 and Trevor Gunderson had 11.

HL-O 71, T-ML-GHEC 68

GRANADA -- Free throws down the stretch helped Heron Lake-Okabena edge Truman-Martin Luther-Granada-Huntley-East Chain for the Wildcats’ second win of the season.

Ben Sheldahl scored 18 points for HL-O and connected on 10 of 12 free throws. Malaki Walker had 17 points while Eli Fest and Andrew Madsen each had 11.

Madsen scored all 11 of his points in the first half.


Fest finished with seven assists. Walker had six rebounds for the Wildcats, who hit 20 of 29 free throw attempts for the game.

Derek Shoen scored 21 points for the Jaguars. Mason Maloney had 15 points and Zach Wolter had 12.

MCC 63, Adrian 54

ADRIAN -- Tyler Groves had eight rebounds, Mason Woldt had three blocks, and Spencer Wajer and Nate Everson combined for 39 points as the Murray County Central boys basketball team defeated Adrian.

Wajer scored 20 and Everson scored 19. The Rebels led 29-20 at halftime.


Ryan Wieneke had 16 points, five rebounds and three blocks for Adrian. Brady Henning scored 12 points and Christian Weidert had 11.

MCC hit 19 of 24 free throws compared to the Dragons’ 6 of 15.

Estherville/LC 71, JCC 68 (OT)

JACKSON -- Estherville/Lincoln Central topped Jackson County Central in overtime.

Rudy Voss scored 20 points for JCC and Jack Brinkman had 13. But E/LC, which led 35-33 at halftime, held on for the win by outscoring the Huskies 8-5 in the overtime period.

TYLER -- Host Russell-Tyler-Ruthton prevailed over Hills-Beaver Creek 79-44.

JACKSON -- Alaina Wolff and Molly Brinkman combined for 49 points as Jackson County Central upended Estherville/Lincoln County. Wolff led the way with 29 counters.

Josie Condon with 23 points and Morgan White with 14 led Estherville/Lincoln County.

The win pushes JCC to 9-4 on the season.

Minneota 63, Edgerton 34

EDGERTON -- Visiting Minneota outscored Edgerton Public 30-16 in the first half and finally emerged with a convincing win.

Lydia Sussner had 19 points and Molly Hennen 12 for the winners. Chynna Berning contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds for Edgerton.

LAKE PARK, Iowa -- Madison Brevik scored 23 points to help Harris-Lake Park to victory over Sibley-Ocheyedan.

Taylor Meyer and Blake Gunderson both scored 12 points for the Wolves.

Toni Lonneman and Kelli Greenfield scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, for Sibley-Ocheyedan.

JCC 139.7, Marshall 126.6

MARSHALL -- Brooklyn Schuett won the balance beam (9.025) and floor (9.6) competitions for Jackson County Central in a win over host Marshall. Huskies teammates Hailey Handevidt (9.0 on vault) and Abby Schneekloth (8.55 on bars) also won individual events.

Marshalls’ Saphi McFarquhar captured the all-around competition with a 35.3 score. She was second on the balance beam with an 8.9 mark, and second on floor with a 9.5.

Schuett was second in the all-around (35.15) while getting a second on the bars, with an 8.375 score. JCC’s Sydney Sadusky was second on vault (8.9).
