MState-Fergus Falls edges Minnesota West volleyball team in five sets

The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team came close, but didn't quite make it to a weekend sweep.

WORTHINGTON -- The Minnesota West Lady Jays volleyball team came close, but didn't quite make it to a weekend sweep.

On Friday, the Jays defeated visiting Ridgewater three games to one, but on Saturday in another home match, MState-Fergus Falls beat West in a five-setter on scores of 15-12, 25-27, 23-25, 25-13 and 15-5.

Kennedy Buckneberg had nine kills and 14 digs for West , and was 15-for-15 serving. Emily Dunlop led the Lady Jays with 10 kills.

Mallory Thorson had seven kills and was 17-for-17 with two aces.

Taya Mason had 21 assists and Emma Keith had 13. Julia Russel had 25 digs and Shelby Christensen had 20 digs.
