OKOBOJI, IowA — The Dickinson County Conservation Board’s free Birding on the Green program will be offered at 7 a.m. Aug. 3 and Sept. 14 at Brooks Golf in Okoboji. Birding on the Green allows birders of all ages the opportunity to see and hear up to 60 different species in just a couple of hours.

Led by local birders, with assistance from conservation board staff, birders take golf carts through the Audubon-certified course once per month to document species. Birders can see woodpeckers, waterfowl, hawks, warblers and green heron. Species change throughout the season, and birders can see migrating birds as well as breeding or year-round residents.

Both novice and experienced birders are welcome. All participants are asked to wear masks.
