NCSI RACING: Championship night Sunday at NCS

Point standings compiled through Aug. 5 racing competition suggest this Sunday's racing could prove pivotal in crowning many of the 2012 class champions.

In the hobby stock class, Justin Luinenburg leads the way with 1,121 points, with Jeremy Van Ede (1,101 points) coming off a victory on the night of Aug. 19. Dan Strandberg (1,074 points) has also enjoyed a solid campaign.

Another tight points race is taking place in the B-Mods, where Jason Fisher (1,032) has a tight advantage over Steve Bents (1,021) and Collen DeRuyter (1,013). In micro sprints, Tim Ottenbacher (989) is hoping to fend off second-place Kris Wilke (929), who placed ahead of him in racing this past Sunday.

Other current point leaders are Luke Sathoff (1,132) in the stock cars and Joey Streeter (1,038) in sportsman.

Hot laps at Nobles County Speedway are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, with racing getting under way at 6 p.m.
