OKOBOJI, Iowa — The Dickinson County Nature Center will host its first summer program of 2020 with Family Nature Night at 7 p.m. Friday.
The free family program will focus on geocaching, in which users hunt for specially hidden caches with GPS-enabled devices. Staff will give a short presentation on geocaching, and pre-registered families will then set out to find four geocaches throughout Kenue Park.
Once families learn how to geocache, it is an activity they can do anywhere they travel. The Iowa Great Lakes region alone has hundreds of geocaches to find.
Due to COVID-19, the Dickinson County Nature Center has moved most of its education to online venues. For this event, the program will be capped at six families, as groups will be asked to socially distance from each other. Staff will wear masks, but attendees are not required to wear them. To reserve a spot, call (712) 336-6352.
