Prep boys basketball: Luverne, Ellsworth get weekend wins

LUVERNE- Nick Overgaard scored 22 points, made five steals and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Luverne High School boys basketball squad to a 62-45 win over Blue Earth Area on Saturday.
Teammate Quinton Siebenahler added 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Cardinals led 32-19 at halftime and held on.
Cardinal Cole Bosch contributed nine points and Eric Wohnoutka had five assists to go along with his five points.
Luverne connected on seven of 20 three-point attempts and made 16 of 27 tries from two-point range. Blue Earth Area made just two of 11 from long range.
Baily Olson scored 16 points to lead the Bucs, and Tyler Hannaman scored 10 points. Chandler Klienitz had seven rebounds.

MADISON - Trei Hinrichs led the way for the Ellsworth Panthers over Lac qui Parle Valley, totaling 15 points.
Malik Herman also had a quality game for Ellsworth. The senior forward had 10 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. Jared Leuthold led the way in the assist column with six.
Ellsworth improves to 2-2 on the season and will look to build a winning streak Thursday in Edgerton.

ADRIAN - Buoyed by three-point shooting, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton earned a 10-point victory over Adrian. The Knights converted six of 23 three-pointers compared to Adrian’s two of three.
Carter Hansen led the way for the winners with 12 points. Dain LaRock and Garrett Kern each had 10.
Adrian got a 17-point effort from Zach Hendel.
The Dragons made 14 of 36 two-point attempts for 39 percent and meshed 17 of 24 free throws. R-T-R was 12 of 28 from two-point range while putting 19 of 31 free throws through the net.
