High school section football gets under way on Tuesday, and the Worthington Trojans will travel to play longtime Southwest Conference and Big South Conference rival Luverne in the opening round of Section 3AAA.

Worthington, the fifth seed, will face a 4-4 Luverne team at 7 p.m. which has won four straight games after losing its first four of the 2017 season. The Cardinals have won their last four contests by scoring 138 points with only 38 allowed.

Though the two teams played each other every year under the old Southwest Conference configuration, they did not meet this year in the regular season under the Big South banner.

Section tournaments begin Tuesday in all classes and across the whole of southwest Minnesota. Here are the first-round games, with seeding numbers and records in parentheses. All games start at 7 p.m.:
