OKOBOJI, Iowa -- The Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals opened the game's scoring with safety in the second quarter and that same defense ended up pitching a shutout in an 8-0 non-district win over the Okoboji Pioneers Friday night.
Jose Olvera and Josh Wagenaar combined to put the Generals on the board 2-0 in the second quarter with a safety.
Dalton Frick added an eight-yard touchdown run in the third quarter to complete the game's scoring for S-O (1-1).
Dylan Brockshus gained 122 rushing yards on 21 carries for the Generals, while Owen Wiese passed for 100 yards on an 8-for-23 completion percentage and also added 65 rushing yards on 12 carries.
Dillon Thies caught five passes for 55 yards from Wiese and was followed by Wagenaar's three catches for 38 yards.

Brockshus (two solos, six assists, one interception and a sack) and Olvera (two solos, 10 assists and 1.5 sacks) paced S-0 on defense.
The Generals open district play Friday when they host Alta/Aurelia.

ROCK RAPIDS, Iowa - The Central Lyon/George-Little Rock Lions used a stout defensive effort to stymie the Western Christian Wolfpack in a non-district Iowa football contest Friday night.
The Lions, who even their season record at 1-1 before opening up district play next week, took a 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter when Jesse Markus rumbled into the end zone with a 12-yard run and Luke Grooters kicked the extra point.
CL/G-LR maintained the shutout through halftime and early into the fourth quarter when WC found the end zone, but the Lions intercepted the Wolfpack 2-point conversion attempt to keep the lead.

However, the Lions quickly answered that score to extend their lead to 15-6 when Nic Lutmer caught a 17-yard pass from Markus and Josh Hunt ran in the 2-point try.
Jesse Henrichs completed the scoring for CL/G-LR with 21 seconds left on the clock when he ran in a 15-yard touchdown (Grooters extra point).
Hunt finished with 123 rushing yards on 23 carries, while Grooters ran 12 times for 43 yards as the Lions rushed for a 294 yards as a team and held the Wolfpack to 44 rushing yards.
Grooters led CL/G-LR with eight solo tackles and four assists, while Cole Schleusner (seven solos, two assists), Evan Voss (three solos, three assists, two sacks and a knockdown) and Ethan Christians (two solos, one assist and an interception) each had nice efforts for the defense.
The Lions open Class 2A, District 1 play Friday at Cherokee.

LAKE PARK, Iowa - The Harris-Lake Park Wolves claimed leads in both the first and second quarter, but North Iowa-Buffalo Center scored 21 unanswered points through the middle two quarters and held off the hosts in the final frame for the win in an 8-man Iowa football contest.
Kade Heikens led the Wolves with 90 yards on 12 carries and opened the game's scoring with a 29-yard touchdown four minutes into the game.
Following a NI-BC score in the first quarter, Brons answered early in the second quarter with a 17-yard pass to Heikens to put the Wolves up 14-6.
However, NI-BC tied the game by the half and then shutout H-LP in the third quarter, while scoring two touchdowns of its own.
Brons brought the Wolves within 27-21 with a five-yard touchdown run five seconds into the final quarter, but the visitors answered with another score before Brons connected with Eli Ihnen late in the game for the final score on a 24-yard pass.
Brons completed 13 of 25 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns, while also successfully kicking all four extra-point attempts.
Tanner Hiveley (five catches for 67 yards), Ihnen (five catches for 66 yards) and Heikens (three catches for 35 yards) were the receiving targets for Brons in the contest.
Defensively, Ihnen collected 25 tackles and a sack, Hiveley had 22 tackles and Brons added a sack.

H-LP (1-1) heads into district play next week with a game at Remsen-Union, the team that ended the Wolves season last year in the first-round of the state tournament.

Spencer 42, Sheldon 14
SHELDON, Iowa -- The Sheldon Orabs lost their second game of the season to Spencer 42-14 Friday night in Sheldon.
Sheldon scored in the first quarter off of a 48 yard TD pass from Chris Balster to Nathan Oostra, and the PAT was good for the Orabs. However, Spencer put up 21 points of their own in the first quarter, leaving Sheldon trailing by 14.
The Orabs only other score came in the second quarter on a four yard run by Balster, with a good PAT. But Spencer matched Sheldon's production in the second, scoring a touchdown of their own to retain their 14 point lead heading into halftime.
The only scoring done in the second half was done by Spencer, with both touchdowns coming in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

Balster rushed the ball 14 times for 99 yards and going 3-for-7 in the air for 63 yards for the Orabs, while Hunter McDonald rushed seven times for 37 yards. On defense, Balster had nine tackles and a sack, while Will De Kok made seven tackles and two sacks. Darin Greenfield also had six tackles and one sack for the Orabs.
Sheldon goes on the road to take on Unity Christian Friday.

LAMBERTON -- The Red Rock Central Falcons fell to the Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's Knights 36-6 Friday night in Lamberton.
The Knights jumped out to an early 8-0 lead in the first quarter on a nine-yard run by Mitchell Neid and a good 2-point conversion. Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's increased its lead to 14 on a 37-yard touchdown run by Jordan Anderson, but the PAT was no good.
The Falcons got on the board in the second quarter on a 62-yard TD pass from Brady Bierl to Jeff DeCock, but the PAT failed to make it 14-6.

However, the Knights fought right back and scored two unanswered touchdowns, one coming on a four-yard TD run by Neid and another Anderson, this time a five-yard run. Both PATs after the two touchdowns were good, giving Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's a 30-6 lead going into halftime.
The only scoring in the second half came in the third quarter on a six-yard run from the Knights Neid, his third of the night. The PAT failed, making the final score 36-6 in favor of Sleepy Eye Saint Mary's.
Mitchell Schroepfer had 14 carries for the Falcons for 39 yards, while Dillion Benson had 37 yards on 12 carries. Brady Bierl was 2-for-5 for 73 yards, a touchdown and an interception with Thomas Blomgren went 1-7, for five yards and an interception. Jeff DeCock had two catches for 73 yards and a touchdown while teammate Jordan Schroepfer had one catch for five yards.
The Falcons host Springfield Friday at 7 p.m.

WINDOM -- The Windom Eagles lost their season opener 27-0 to the Martin County West Mavericks Friday night in Windom.
Neither team scored in the first quarter, but the Mavericks put up 20 points in the second quarter to blow the game open.
MCW also scored the only points after halftime, coming off of a touchdown in the third quarter. Three of the Mavericks scores came off of turnovers by the Eagles.
Michael Rivera ran 23 times for 57 yards while also going 6-for-17 passing for 91 yards and two picks for the Eagles. Brandon Thongvivong had eight carries for 48 yards along with three catches for 41 yards.
Collin Lovell and Andrew Larson both picked up sacks for the Eagles on defense.

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- The Mountain Lake Area Wolverines picked up a win in their season opener, taking down the Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Bulldogs 42-16 Friday night in Mountain Lake.
The Wolverines outscored the Bulldogs 36-8 in the first half. The J-W-P could only must eight more points in the fourth quarter, which was not enough for a comeback. MLA also scored in the fourth quarter, adding six more points to their total.
Andrew Hempeck rushed 18 times for 185 yards, two TDs and one 2-point conversion for the Wolverines, while Ryan Klassen ran the ball 11 times for 118 yards and one TD. MLA quarterback Carter Kirk ran three times for eight yards and two TDs while going 2-for-6 through the air for 48 yards and one TD.
Levi Kass catch one pass for 25 yards and a TD while also intercepting the ball once on defense for the Wolverines. Teammate Eric Wenner also had an interception while picking up a sack for the MLA defense.
MLA (1-0) will travel to Danube to take on Renville County West Friday at 7 p.m.

TRACY -- In a double-overtime thriller, the Murray County Central Rebels overcame an early deficit to take down the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers 52-26.
MCC put the first points on the board in the first quarter off of a one-yard touchdown run by Ben Loosbrock, putting the Rebels up 8-0 after a good 2-point conversion.
The Panthers struck right back with a 46-yard TD from quarterback Parker Lanoue (10-for-20, 172 yards passing, two TDs) to Austin Gleis to tie the game at eight after a successful 2-point conversion.
The Rebels picked up their second touchdown of the game on a 62-yard TD run by Jack Thony to put MCC back in the lead 16-8 after a good 2-point conversion. Lanoue took matters into his own hands, scoring a 40-yard rushing TD, along with a successful 2-point conversion, to tie the game once again. Lanoue rushed 23 times for 68 yards and three TDs.
T-M-B took their first lead of the game on a 29-yard TD pass from Lanoue to Josh Kirk, putting the Panthers up 24-16 after a good 2-point conversion.
Lanoue picked up his second rushing TD of the game in the second quarter on a six-yard run to put T-M-B up 32-16 after it scored on the 2-point conversion. The Panthers defense was able to keep the Rebels off the board in the second quarter to maintain their lead going into the locker room at halftime.
MCC scored three straight touchdowns to regain the lead in the fourth quarter.
The first touchdown came from Rebels Mitch Reinsma on a five-yard run, with a good 2-point conversion to close T-M-B's lead to eight. MCC quarterback Seth Bass picked up his only TD of the game on a 32-yard pass to Thony, along with a good 2-point conversion, to tie the game at 32. The last touchdown came on a four-yard run from Thony (25 rushes, 197 yards, three TDs), but the Rebels failed to convert on the 2-point play, giving them a slim six-point lead.
However, the Panthers didn't go down without a fight. A missed 2-point conversion after a one-yard TD run by Alec Swan forced overtime where both teams traded off touchdowns.
MCC scored first on a one-yard run from Loosbrock and a 2-point conversion to go up by eight. T-M-B got their overtime TD on a 10-yard run from Lanoue along with 2-point conversion to force a second overtime.
In the second overtime, the Rebels scored first on a nine-yard run, but failed to complete the 2-point conversion. That gave the Panthers a chance to end the game if they could score a touchdown and get the 2-point conversion.
However, MCC was able to come up with the stop to win the game with a final score of 52-46.
The Panthers had a total of 329 yards, 157 on the rush and 172 on the pass along with one turnover. The Rebels racked up 440 yards, 374 on the rush and only 66 on the pass along with two turnovers.
MCC hosts Dawson-Boyd at 7 p.m. T-M-B will look for their first win of the season Friday when they face MACCRAY on the road at 7 p.m.
