ADRIAN - Fulda and Adrian came away with wins Thursday at a triangular hosted by the Dragons.
The Raider boys picked a victory by notching a team score of 177. That was followed by Adrian (193) and Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton (212). The Dragon girls earned a narrow 212-215 win over Fulda with the Eagles ending at 252.
Cory Renneke led the Raiders with a 43, the second-best individual boys’ score of the day. Jason VanDyke was just one stroke behind at 44 while Justin Dierks and Brandon Everett kept up with their teammates at 45 to complete the team total.
The boys’ medalist was Adrian’s Ryan Elias, who carded a 41. Michell Veld (47), Brady Henning (51) and Cole Weidert (54) got the Dragons to their 193. Derek Fey’s 50 was SWC/E’s best score. Trey Huisken, Jeremy Vander Woude and Wesley Vis all finished at 54.
Alexia Kemper’s 48 earned medalist honors on the girls’ side and led Adrian to the team victory. Seniors MacKenzie Wagner and Jada Elias came in at 52 and 54. Madelyn Odell capped things off with a 58.
Amber Breuker of Fulda was just one shot off of the lead at 49. Katelyn Renneke ended her round at 42 while Lynneigh Vrooman and Emily Schroer both came in at 57. Jennifer Schelhaas led the Eagles with a 60. Emily DeGroot (62), Shaina DeRuyter (63) and Elizabeth Scholten (67) completed their total.
Worthington at Western Christian
HULL, Iowa - It was a tough course, said Worthington High School boys golf coach John Koller, with a strong north wind and a lot of slope on the greens. But the Trojans managed it well enough to earn a two-stroke victory over Hull-Western Christian.
Worthington won 166-168. On the girls’ side, Anneke Weg’s 43 helped the Trojans to a 207-222 win.
Weg’s 43 was backed up with a 52 by Ashley Hoefker, a 55 by Rachel Koller and a 57 by Kelicy Anderson.
Trojan Jake Prunty was the boys’ medalist, with a 40. Ben Koepsell had a 41, Nathoe Vorasane a 42 and Tyler Van Hove and Zach Boever both carded 43s.
Cade Broek led Hull-Western Christian with a 41. Colyn Oostenink and Carter Broek had 42 each. Taylor Iedema and Taylor Westphal both had 43s.
Nick Weg and Preston Anderson carded 48 and 49, respectively, for the WHS junior varsity boys.
Windom Area at Redwood Valley
REDWOOD FALLS - Windom Area claimed a pair of medalists Thursday while the Eagle girls won their Big South Conference dual against Redwood Valley.
Haillie Will and Paige Pigman finished the evening as co-medalists on the girls side, leading Windom Area to a team tally of 191. Emily Jackson wasn’t far back at 48 while Tori Christoffer capped off the score with a 53.
Bailey Klause led an incomplete Cardinals squad at 53.
Jake Cory notched the day’s best individual score, but Redwood Valley had five players finish their rounds with a score of 45 or lower. That put the home team in a position to narrowly beat the Eagles, 174-183.
Cory’s four-over par 39 was highlighted by a birdie and three pars. Tylan Porath used a trio of pars to card a 45 while Sam Diemer (47) and Parker Alvstad (52) set the Eagles’ total at 183.
Brendan Fuhr and Tyler Domains led a consistent Cardinals effort at 43. Matt Muetzer and Hunter Tholkes both entered the clubhouse with a 44.
ELC at JCC
JACKSON - A medalist round of 39 for Estherville Lincoln Central’s Jack Brashear proved to be the difference Thursday in a 171-174 home loss for Jackson County Central.
Scott Flatebo led the Huskies with a 41 while Jack Brinkman came in at 43. Caleb Kolander and Zach Torgerson finished at 44 and 46, respectively, to round out a solid day for the home team. Austin Haar (53) and Zach Poelaert (54) didn’t factor into the total.
Brashear’s 39 made all the difference with Trey Jacobson notching the Midgets’ second-best score at 42. Hunter King, Hunter Wheatley and Collin Wadtke all carded rounds of 45.
HL-O at H-BC
LARCHWOOD, Iowa - Stuart Plimpton shot a medalist’s round of 43 strokes in leading the Hills-Beaver Creek golfers over Heron Lake-Okabena 193-247.
Trevor Paulsen had a 47 for the Patriots. Teammates Preston Maassen and Dylon Taubert had 51 and 52, respectively.
For Heron Lake-Okabena, Ben Sheldahl had a 52, Kaleb Sydnes 61, Matthew Bartosh 65 and Ethan Koep 69.
