ADRIAN - The Hills-Beaver Creek boys golf team battled the elements on its way to a 195-228 stroke win over Southwest Minnesota Christian/Edgerton while host Adrian came in with a 230.
Patriots’ head Coach Dan Ellingson was pleased with his team’s performance Tuesday afternoon.
“For our first meet of the year our goal was to shoot under 200, and we did that today,” he said
The Patriots were led by Preston Massen, who came in with a medalist score of 45. Finishing right behind him, and second overall, was senior Stuart Plimpton with a 46. Rounding out H-BC’s team score were Trevor Paulsen (49) and Dylon Taubert (55).
SWC/E utilized a strong outing from Trey Huisken (53) to edge Adrian by two strokes. Following up Huisken were Derek Fey (56), Jeremy Vander Woude (58), and Wesley Vis (61).
Adrian’s top performance came from Brady Henning. The sophomore shot fourth place 55.
Medalist MacKenzie Wagner fired a 46 to lead Adrian to a 236-276 victory over SWC/E on the girls side of the competition.
Following close behind Wagner was Alexia Kemper (52). Other top scores came from Courtney Penniny with a 66 and Madelyn Odell (69).
Jennifer Schelhaas shot a third-place 64 to pace the Flying Dutchmen.
SLAYTON - Murray County Central continued its reign of dominance from the 2015 season.
The Rebel boys topped the Fulda Raiders 186-226 while Red Rock Central put up a third-place 241. Tyler Groves took home medalist honors for MCC with a 41.
Rounding out the Rebels team score was Brad Schreiber (48), Jack Pierson (48) and Cole Ahlers (49).
For Fulda, Justin Dierks paced the team with a fourth-place 54 followed by Jason VanDyke (56), Cory Reneke (56) and Joe Fischer (60).
The RRC Falcons were led by Jaden Peechel, who fired a round of 55.
The Raider girls had consistent scoring across the board on their way to a 230-263 victory over RRC while MCC totaled a 277.
MCC’s Abby Hammon commanded the ball well in less than ideal conditions to shot a medalist round of 52. In a tie for second place were Fulda’s Emily Schroer (54) along with her teammate Taylor Warborg.
Finishing out the Raiders team score was Katelym Renneke (60) and Lynneigh Vroolan (62).
For RRC, Carly Baumann led her team with a third place score of 57.
