Prep golf: Murray County Central takes pair over Westbrook-Walnut Grove
SLAYTON -- Murray County Central and Westbrook-Walnut Grove took advantage of unseasonably warm temperatures Tuesday and played a Red Rock Conference season opener two days before it was scheduled.

The Rebels were able to win in both the boys and girls events. MCC’s boys took a 163-213 victory with the girls edging the Chargers 213-224.
“It was our first time out on Slayton’s course and it was nice just to get out there,” W-WG coach Carter Ross said. “It was a beautiful day.”
On the boys’ side, Rebel seniors Grant Everson and Adam Christensen led the way. Everson shot a 36 with Christensen coming in at 38. Tyler Groves and Brad Schreiber rounded out the team score of 163 with rounds of 42 and 47, respectively.
W-WG’s top golfer was Brandon Pacholl, who carded a 50. Jack Jorgenson and Cole Bunting came in at 53 and 54 while Anthony Ross tallied a 56.
Charger Abby Herding was the girls medalist with a 39, but MCC still got the team win.
Liz Prahm bested the Rebels with a 49. Hannah Davis and Abby Hamman both carded a 51 with Hannah Bose shooting a 62.
Cassidy Mischke added a 58 to W-WG’s team total. Deziree Koenig was the third Charger to come in at 62 with Mariah Olson notching a 65.
