Prep golf: Vorasane, Weg are tops for Trojans

LAKEFIELD - Nathoe Vorasane had a medalist round of 40 to lead the Worthington boys golf team past Heron Lake-Okabena Monday.
“He played pretty solid today,” WHS head coach John Koller said of Vorasane’s day.
The Trojans had a team score of 172, while the Wildcats had a 261.
“We scrapped it around the course today,” Koller said. “They know they’ve played better and we need to clean some things up.”
Ben Koepsell had a 43 for WHS while Lucas Boever fired a 44. Tyler Van Hove, Nick Weg and Zach Boever each had a 45.
HL-O was led by Wyatt Schumacher’s 59. Ben Sheldahl had a 65.
On the girls side, Anneke Weg fired a medalist round of 42 to lead the Trojans. However, WHS only had three golfers and had an incomplete team score. Bailey Weg had a 46 and Sydney Luft finished with a 65 for the Trojans.
The Wildcats carded a team score of 226. They were led by Sarah Madsen’s 53. Lexy Ruesch had a 55, while Brooke Freking and Haley Ruesch each had a 59.
The Trojans are at Adrian on Thursday.
Luverne vs. Adrian
LUVERNE - The Luverne golf teams earned a sweep of Adrian.
On the boys side, Luverne had a 174, while Adrian had a 205. For the girls, Luverne had a 181 and Adrian had a 213.
Chaz Smedsrud led the Carindals with a 40, while Coy Gonnerman had a 41. Jack Baustian carded a 45 and Max Skattum and Jacob VanSanten each finished with a 48.
For Adrian, Ryan Elias and Mitchel Veld each had a 47. Brady Henning fired a 51 and Landon Runia had a 60.
For the girls, Makayla Sterrett and Hannah Ver Steeg each had a 43 for Luverne. Hailey Remme finished with a 46 and Madison Crabtree fired a 49.
The Dragon girls were led by Alexia Kemper’s 49. Jada Elias had a 52, while MacKenzie Wagner and Annika Elias each had a 56.
