LUVERNE - The Luverne boys hockey team scored early and often Tuesday night in a 14-0 drubbing of Fairmont.
The Cardinals (11-3) scored six times in the first period, five in the second and three more in the third to take the victory. Kasyn Kruse led the Cardinals with five goals and three assists. Chaz Smedsrud had three goals and five assists, while Jaxon Nelson had three goals and two assists.
Fairmont, which falls to 2-10, hosts Worthington Thursday. Luverne is at New Ulm on Friday.

LUVERNE - Luverne jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back in an eight-goal victory in a girls hockey game Tuesday.
Just more than a minute into the game, Luverne’s Mariah Aukes scored on an assist from Lexi Henrichs to give LHS a 1-0 lead. Makayla Sterrett added another goal on an assist from Carly Serie in the first as the Cardinals led 2-0 after the first. Sterrett, Henrichs and Aukes each scored in the second for the Cardinals, who then added five in the third. Madisyn Dingmann scored twice in the final period, while Madison Crabtree added a goal. Aukes completed her hat trick and Cori Nath scored in the final six minutes to seal the victory.
Emilie Bartels made 10 saves, while Kennedy Gonnerman made seven for LHS.

New Ulm 6, Windom Area 0
NEW ULM - Four second-period goals proved to be the difference as New Ulm skated past Windom Area.
Brook Schugel and Ali Beltz each scored twice for New Ulm, which outshot WA 64-3. Emily Steen made 58 saves for Windom Area.
Windom Area hosts Morris/Benson Area on Saturday.
