Prep sports: Wintery weather halts local athletic events

WORTHINGTON -- Blustery, wintery conditions once again impeded athletic events across southwest Minnesota Thursday and postponements racked up right and left.

WORTHINGTON - Blustery, wintery conditions once again impeded athletic events across southwest Minnesota Thursday and postponements racked up right and left.

Worthington Public Schools announced all extracurricular activities scheduled for (Thursday) last night were pushed back.

The following events for Worthington were postponed or canceled as of 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon:

- Adrian at Worthington wrestling was moved to today (Friday) at 6 p.m. with B squad followed by varsity.

- Sioux Falls Flyers at Worthington boys hockey was postponed until Thursday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

- Worthington junior varsity boys basketball was postponed until Thursday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m.

- Worthington Middle School girls and boys basketball was cancelled.

Many other events across the Southwest and Red Rock conferences were postponed. They include:

- Red Rock Central at Murray County Central girls basketball was postponed until Tuesday, Jan. 28.

- Mountain Lake Area at Westbrook-Walnut Grove girls basketball was postponed until Thursday, Jan. 23.

- Red Rock Central at Sleepy Eye boys basketball was postponed to Tuesday, Feb. 4.

- Jackson County Central at Luverne wrestling triangular was pushed back to Thursday, Feb. 6.

- Jackson County Central at Luverne gymnastics meet was postponed until Saturday, Jan. 25.

- Windom Area/Mountain Lake at Marshall gymnastics meet was postponed to Monday, Feb. 3.

- Windom Area/Mountain Lake at Marshall wrestling dual postponed to Monday, Jan. 27.
