REDWOOD FALLS - Heron Lake-Okabena sophomore Cheyenne Schaffer was a double winner Thursday at a quadrangular indoor track and field meet at Redwood Valley High School. After winning the high jump (4-10), Schaffer finished first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:46.86.
HL-O freshman Claire Rasche sprinted to a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash and placed fourth in the 60-meter dash. Teammate Kaylan Untiedt placed second in the 60-meter high hurdles and was sixth in the 400-meter dash.
Bailey Collin (third, shot put), Rachel Salentiny (fifth, 1,600-meter run) and Anna Volk (sixth, 1,600-meter run) also scored individual points for the Wildcats, who finished third in the team standings with a total of 49 points.
Untiedt, Taylor Johanning, Salentiny and Schaffer placed second in the 4x400-meter relay and the team of Salentiny, Johanning, Volk and Schaffer finished third in the 4x800.
Logan Knutson finished second in the 800 and fifth in the 1,600 to lead the HL-O boys, while Carlos Juarez placed sixth in the 400.
Redwood Valley, Yellow Medicine East and Canby/Minneota were the other three teams competing in the meet.
