PREP VOLLEYBALL: Huskies lead list of All-SWC performers

WORTHINGTON -- Jackson County Central is represented by five players on the 2009 All-Southwest Conference volleyball team.

The Huskies, who won the 2009 SWC title outright, earned more spots on the All-Conference team than any other school.

Senior outside hitter Briel Hendricksen, senior setter Stacey Schuller, senior middle hitter Erika Voss and sophomore outside hitter Whitney Burmeister each made the first team, while senior setter Jasmine Timko earned honorable-mention honors.

Burmeister was the only sophomore to make the team.

Windom and Pipestone Area each had three players honored.

Windom's middle hitter Makenzie Lovell, a senior, and outside hitter Courtney Ysker, a junior, made the first team.

The Eagles' Mikayla Bergedahl was honorable mention.

For Pipestone Area, senior middle hitter Rachel Tinklenberg was a first teamer, while seniors Jeena Lentz, a setter, and Brooke Woelber, another hitter, were honorable mention.

Junior middle-blocker Martha Alwal was Worthington's sole representative, and senior hitter Kat Dahl was Luverne's only player on the team. Both were given honorable mention.

Marshall, the Class AA state champions, had three first teamers: Kelsey Deragisch, Kayla Wallerich and Rachel Westby, all seniors.

Redwood Valley's Paige Olson took the remaining spot on the first team.
