Prep volleyball: JCC tips Pipestone Area

DAILY GLOBE PIPESTONE -- Rachel Johnson had 30 set assists and Kenna Bannister poured in 11 kills as the Jackson County Central Huskies swept Southwest Conference rival Pipestone Area Monday in high school volleyball. Scores were 25-19, 25-14, 25-20.

PIPESTONE - Rachel Johnson had 30 set assists and Kenna Bannister poured in 11 kills as the Jackson County Central Huskies swept Southwest Conference rival Pipestone Area Monday in high school volleyball. Scores were 25-19, 25-14, 25-20.
The victory moved JCC to 20-7 for the season and 5-1 in conference play. Pipestone Area fell to 14-11 on the year.
Johnson also put 11 of 12 serves in play. Teammates Kathryn Nasby was 12-for-13, Sydney Nyborg 11-for-13 and Abby Brinkman 10-for-10. Nasby also had 14 digs while Bannister and Nyborg had seven digs apiece.
Abby Benson had eight kills and seven blocks. Sydney Eddy had five blocks and Nyborg eight kills.
Kelly Nettik had 24 set assists for Pipestone Area. Anneka Bucher contributed 10 kills and Meg Remund nine. Brittany Evans had 13 digs.
Sheldon 3, S-O 0
SIBLEY, Iowa - In a matchup of historic rivals, Sheldon defeated Sibley-Ocheyedan 3-0 on scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20.
The Orabs’ Jessica Van Beek led her team offensively with 17 kills, and teammate Marti Vogel added 11.
Sami Kleinwolterink had 29 set assists and Jena Van marel had three blocks. Kayla Johnson had 21 digs while Kleinwolterink added 17 and Van Beek 16.
H-LP 3, Luverne 1
LUVERNE - Visiting Harris-Lake Park scraped by the Luverne Cardinals 3-1, with set scores of 25-10, 14-25, 25-16 and 25-22.
Leading the Cardinals serving was Lexi Rust. Rust had six ace serves, and was 13-16 from the line. Ellen Dahl was next in line, going 7-8 serving.
Cardinal setter Ashley Olson was 41-47, with 12 set assists. Paige Baker led Luverne with 9 kills.
Erica DeBoer had 23 kills, followed by Rust with 17. Blocking leaders for Luverne were Tayla Peterson, with one solo and two assists, and Amanda Barnhart with an assist.
H-BC 3, Ellsworth 0
HILLS - With close set scores every match, Hills-Beaver Creek escaped visiting Ellsworth with a 3-0 victory.
For H-BC, Hattie Van Whye led serving going 14-16, with three aces. She was closely followed by Kayla Thone, who was a perfect 13-13 with two aces. Kelli Esselink led with 9 kills for the Patriots, and Van Whye followed with five.
Both Avery Van Roekel and Madison Thicke had two blocks apiece, and Megan Westrum had 13 set assists. Tori Bork led with 14 digs, and Jessica Sandbulte had 12.
For the Panthers, Danielle DeBeer had five set assits, four kills and a block. Heidi Nolte tacked on eight set assists, and Alexa Huisman had eight kills and three aces.
The Patriots finished their season 7-15 overall. Ellsworth hosts Adrian on Monday for their first playoff game this season.
For Harris-Lake Park, Noreen Morrow led the team with 14 kills, followed by Miranda Brieggeman and Kathrine Ihnen, each with seven kills.
Macy Gunderson led H-LP with 27 set assists, and Gunderson also had 13 digs. Brueggeman had 18 digs, and Grace Heikens had 15.
