Prep volleyball roundup: Sell records 1,000th career set assist as RRC defeats Fulda

JEFFERS -- Krystle Sell recorded her 1,000th career set assist Thursday night, and the Red Rock Central Falcons won a four-game thriller (25-27, 27-25, 27-25, 25-21) over the Fulda Raiders in Red Rock Conference volleyball action.

Sell finished with 16 set assists and was 23-for-23 serving with 13 points and four aces to help the Falcons, while Cierra Nickel also had 16 set assists.

Abby Halter contributed with 22 digs, 13 kills and a 13-for-14 serving effort (three aces), Alyssa Fredrickson knocked down eight kills, and Steph Pankonin came up with 28 digs for RRC (9-8, 5-3).

Caitlyn DeCock (19-for-19 serving with seven points and an ace) had 22 digs and seven kills, and Abby Furth had two ace blocks for the Falcons.

Mari Holinka had 13 kills and six ace blocks to lead Fulda, while Michelle Goedtke dished out 18 set assists, and Sheyenne Wildfeuer charted 14 digs.

Amy Paulzine was 16-for-17 serving with 11 points and two aces, and Brittany Hulstein (15 digs) was 16-for-18 at the service line with seven points and an ace for Fulda (5-10-1, 4-4).

RRC hosts Round Lake-Brewster Tuesday, while Fulda hosts Ellsworth Monday.

W-WG 3, Ellsworth 1

WESTBROOK -- Audra Schmidt chalked up 17 kills and four blocks to help Westbrook-Walnut Grove to a four-game victory (25-16, 25-16, 24-26, 25-11) over Ellsworth in Red Rock Conference action.

Schmidt was also 16-for-17 serving with two aces, and Sara Jarmer (25 set assists, three blocks) was 27-for-32 serving with a pair of aces.

Chanel Madson added six kills for the Chargers, while Taylor Elzenga and Kristie Hoffman had 23 and 19 digs, respectively.

Amanda DeBoer was among the leaders for Ellsworth, as she had six kills to go along with nine points and four aces on a 14-for-14 serving performance.

Molly Kramer (11 set assists) was 12-for-12 serving with seven points and three aces for the Panthers, while Leah Timmer (three blocks), Darian Herman (two blocks) and Becca Sieff (three kills) also contributed.

Ellsworth's Brooke Kix (12) and Courtney Dreesen (11) combined for 23 digs.

W-WG (10-10-2, 4-4) hosts Southwest Christian Tuesday, while Ellsworth (2-15, 1-7) plays at Fulda Monday.

SWC 3, ML/B-O 0

MOUNTAIN LAKE -- Southwest Christian remained undefeated in the Red Rock Conference, rolling past Mountain Lake/Butterfield-Odin on the road.

Game scores were 25-8, 25-9, 25-10.

Kara Van Dyke (two ace serves) and Jada Vander Veen each had four kills for the Eagles, while Angie Vermeer (seven digs) charted three kills.

Brianna Spronk totaled nine solo blocks, and Kayla Broekhuis recorded 28 set assists and six ace tips for SWC (15-4, 8-0).

Brittany Wenner and Megan Svalland each had three kills to lead ML/B-O, while Brette Pankratz came up with three solo blocks and four block assists.

Kaitlin Feil contributed with six set assists and two ace serves for the Wolverines (3-5, 4-12-1), who host Southwest Star Concept Tuesday.

SWC plays at Westbrook-Walnut Grove Tuesday.

SSC 3, RL-B 0

OKABENA -- Behind a career-best 20 kills from Katey Granstra, the Southwest Star Concept Quasars swept the Round Lake-Brewster Raiders in Red Rock Conference action.

Game scores were 25-6, 25-13, 25-9.

Luanna Henkels had 34 set assists for SSC (13-6, 7-1), while Betsy Voehl, Erika Post and Jenna Leopold each had 13 digs.

Leopold also had six kills, and Voehl was 12-for-13 serving with 11 points and three aces. Bria Baumgard led the Quasars at the service line, going 17-for-17 with 15 points and five aces.

Maddie Collin added five kills, and Kelsey Beyer had four set assists for SSC, which plays in the Blue Earth tournament Saturday.

Karen Schmitz led RL-B (0-8, 1-10) with six blocks and four kills. April Wallace was 6-for-6 at the service line.

The Raiders visit Red Rock Central Tuesday.

MCC 3, H-BC 0

SLAYTON -- Murray County Central cruised past Hills-Beaver Creek to stay unbeaten in the Red Rock Conference.

Game scores were 25-3, 25-11, 25-12.

Emily Bose led MCC (15-4, 8-0) with 13 kills, seven ace tips and two ace blocks, while Kate Robinson added six kills.

Alyssa Schmidt handed out 21 set assists, while Colleen Everson (20-for-21 with 19 points and an ace) and Elissa Reinsma (20-for-20 with 17 points and three aces) were MCC's serving leaders. Reinsma also had 10 digs.

Natalie Stueven led H-BC (1-7, 1-10) with three kills.

MCC visits Adrian Tuesday, while H-BC hosts Lincoln HI Monday.

ADRIAN -- Kourtney Kramer had nine kills, three ace serves and two ace blocks to lead Adrian to a Red Rock Conference sweep (25-19, 25-21, 25-23) against Edgerton.

Adrian's Karli Meyer had four ace serves, while Katy Slater had seven kills and two ace blocks.

Karlee Jackson had six kills and three ace blocks for Adrian (7-9, 5-3), while Ashley Thier had 26 set assists. Hayley Vaske had two ace blocks for the Dragons, who will host Murray County Central Tuesday.

For Edgerton (4-11, 2-6), Macy Butson had 25 set assists, while Kelsey Wolthuizen had eight kills. Alyson Drooger added 12 digs and three ace blocks for a Flying Dutchmen team that will host Worthington Monday.

Windom 3, PA 0

PIPESTONE -- Allison Nau had 15 digs and was a perfect 19-for-19 serving with five aces to lead Windom to a three-game victory against Pipestone Area in a Southwest Conference match.

Courtney Ysker had nine kills, seven digs and was 19-for-23 serving with five aces for the Eagles.

Megan Ysker had 15 kills, 16 set assists and three solo blocks, while MaKenzie Lovell had five kills. Morgan Borsgard had 16 set assists for Windom.

For the Arrows, Jeena Lentz was 9-for-9 serving with one ace. She also had eight set assists and five digs.

Brooke Woelber had three kills and was 8-for-8 serving with one ace, while Rachel Tinklenberg had five kills. Megan VanderPoel had four kills, while Emily Aaland had four digs for the Arrows.

Marshall 3, Luverne 0

LUVERNE -- The third-ranked (Class AA) Marshall Tigers (16-4, 5-0) earned a three-game sweep over Luverne in Southwest Conference action.

Game scores were 25-12, 25-15, 25-13.

Luverne (10-6, 1-3) was led by Katlyn Sawtelle with four kills and Paige Olson with 16 set assists.

Erika Rust and Calli Sawtelle (one ace serve) each had two solo blocks for the Cardinals, while Sundra Xaphakdy (three kills) and Ashley VandeHoef came up with 15 and 12 digs, respectively.

JCC 3, RV 0

REDWOOD FALLS -- With 15 kills, 14 digs and five ace blocks from Briel Hendrickson, the Jackson County Central Huskies defeated Redwood Valley 25-11, 25-23, 25-20.

Stacey Schuller had nine digs and 21 set assists, while Whiteny Burmeister had five ace blocks, nine digs and six kills to lead the Huskies (22-1, 3-1) which will host Martin County West Monday. Erica Voss had six ace blocks and nine kills.

S-O 3, Rock Valley 0

SIBLEY, Iowa -- Kally Iedema knocked down 13 kills, leading the Sibley-Ocheyedan Generals to a three-game sweep (25-21, 25-20, 25-19) over Rock Valley in a key Siouxland Conference matchup.

Both S-O (13-6, 4-1) and Rock Valley entered the match with 3-1 league records, and the Generals won three close games in their final home contest of the year.

Morgan Gradert charted eight kills, and Jessica Ackerman had seven solo blocks and five kills for the Generals.

Hattie Hartzell registered 24 set assists for S-O, while Danelle Miedema had 11 digs and seven ace serves.

The Generals visit M-OC/Floyd Valley Tuesday.
