FAIRMONT - The Worthington Trojan volleyball team picked up a road win Monday, beating Fairmont in four sets.
Scores were 25-22, 25-16, 20-25 and 25-18.
Brooke Henning led the Trojans with 18 kills. Henning also had two solo blocks and 15 digs.
Becca Linder had nine kills, and Abbie Landgaard had eight. Trojan setters Paige Gravenhof and Betsy Thompson had 27 and 13 set assists, respectively.
Gravenhof also had 15 digs, and Landgaard had 12. Serving, Linder led with 19 overall points. Gravenhof and Paige Kinley had 16 points and 14 points, respectively.
“We did a good job of staying aggressive and keeping our confidence throughout the match,” Worthington head coach Jessica Hogan said.
The Trojans are now 8-9 overall, and they host the defending state champion Marshall Tigers Thursday.
T-M-B 3, Windom 2
WINDOM- Five sets was all it took for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers to beat the hosting Windom Area Eagles.
Set scores were 10-25, 25-17, 25-22, 27-29 and 15-11.
For the Panthers, Sara Stoneberg was 24-25 with seven aces. Kassidy Przymus was 14-17 with three aces, and Anna Peterson was 13-14 with two aces.
Jessie Nelson had 12 kills, and Pryzymus had 11.
Panther setter Gabbie Gervais had 33 set assists, and Peterson had 29 digs, with Stoneberg, Przymus and Sammie Gervais with 13 apiece.
Rachel Sorenson had 23 perfect serves for the Eagles, with seven aces. Outside hitter Kelsey Hanefeld was also a perfect 15-15 with an ace.
Michaela Hacker had two solo blocks and seven block assists. Hacker also had 14 kills for Windom Area. Sorenson was next in line with 13 kills. Miki Bolin and Lauren Huset had 27 and 14 set assists, respectively. Jasmine Carlson led the Eagles with 29 digs.
Windom is now 10-7, and they host Jackson County Central on Thursday. T-M-B hosts Central Minnesota Christian tonight.
JCC 3, Blue Earth 0
BLUE EARTH- Rachel Johnson was a perfect 9-9 with four aces, as she led the Jackson County Central Huskies to a sweep over Blue Earth Area Monday in Blue Earth.
Set scores were 25-10, 25-8 and 25-7.
Johnson, JCC’s setter, also had 34 set assists. Kaylee Burmeister, a junior outside hitter, was also a spotless, going 16-16 from the line, also earning an ace.
Kenna Bannister had 9 kills and 11 digs, and Abby Benson had six kills and three solo blocks. Sarah Brandt also had five kills and three blocks.
RRC 3, C-MC 1
After losing the first set, Red Rock Central dominated the next three to beat Cedar Mountain- Comfrey 3-1.
Set scores were 21-25, 25-12, 25-5 and 25-19.
Serving paved the way for the Falcons, with Hannah Sell, Olivia Bitner, Brooke Rasmussen and Mikaela Smith all serving well. Sell was 16-16 with three aces, and Bitner was 18-19 with three aces. Rasmussen was 17-18 with four aces, and Smith was 17-18 with three aces.
Senior outside hitter Cassie Erickson had 14 kills for the Falcons, and Bitner had 10. Smith had 44 set assists, and Rasmussen led the Falcons with 13 digs. Both Smith and Bitner had 10 digs apiece.
The Falcons are now 9-5 overall, and 5-0 in the conference. They host MCC in Jeffers tonight.
Wabasso 3, W-WG 1
WESTBROOK-After winning the first set, Westbrook-Walnut Grove couldn’t hold on, as they lost to Wabasso 3-1 in Westbrook.
Set scores were 18-25, 25-22, 25-21 and 25-21.
Dayna Comnick led W-WG serving, going 20-20 with three aces. Abby Herding was also perfect serving, going 18-18 with two aces.
Comnick also had 26 kills. Both Madison Takle and Cassidy Mischke had seven kills apiece.
Libero Liz Woelber led the Chargers with 26 digs, with Comnick following closely behind with 25. Setter Herding had 40 set assists.
The Chargers are now 10-7 overall and 4-2 in conference action. They host RRC Thursday.
SWC 3, Luverne 0
EDGERTON - In a consistent performance by the homestanding Southwest Christian E-Gals, Tianna Top recorded eight kills and Ann Pater was 12-for-12 serving with three aces.
Southwest prevailed on scores of 25-15, 25-22 and 25-12.
Kassydi Vreeman contributed to Southwest Christian’s victory with five kills, two blocks and 14 digs. Teammate Sydney Esselink added 13 digs and 22 set assists.
For Luverne, Erica DeBoer was 8-for-10 serving with five aces, and she also recorded 20 digs. Lexi Rust had six kills and Amanda Barnhart had six blocks. Ashley Olson added 11 assists.
MCC 3, PA 0
PIPESTONE - Murray County Central made short work of Pipestone Area, winning on scores of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-14.
Kristi Bose led the winners with 13 kills, and teammates McKenzie Schmitz and Lindsey Barritt had six apiece. Hannah Schmidt had 21 digs and Bose 13.
Taylor Kruisselbrink had 13 kills for Pipestone Area. Teammates Brittany Evans had 16 digs and Kelly Nettik 24 set assists.
