REDWOOD FALLS -- The Worthington volleyball team had one of its most successful regular seasons ever, but wasn't able to translate that into playoff success.

The Trojans bowed out to Marshall in the second round on the Section 3AA playoffs on Monday night.

Game scores were 25-15, 25-17 and 25-11.

"We got behind right away in Game 1 and fought back through the middle part of it, but then they pulled ahead at the end," head coach Melissa Schutz said. "(Marshall) played a good game. They're pretty crisp, and played pretty solid all the way around. We had a few mistakes here and there and allowed them to get more points than us."

Seniors Samantha Thuringer (17 digs, 5-for-6 serving, one service ace) and Martha Alwal (10 kills, two blocks) paced the Trojans on the night.

Taylor Heidebrink led the team with eight set assists, and senior Meagan Meier added six set assists and went 7-for-9 from the service line with two aces. Megan Juber was a perfect 10-for-10 serving and also had 10 digs.

"All in all we had a good season," Schutz said. "We had 20 wins this season. There's only three times in school history that a team's got 20 wins for Worthington, so I'm proud of the girls for that."
