The Worthington Trojans came away with three third-place finishes Saturday at the Mankato East Cougar Invitational. In further south, Sibley-Ocheyedan achieved four firsts at the Iowa Class 1A, Section 14 tournament.
Cougar Invitational
MANKATO -- Jacob Prunty at 126 pounds, Brayden Donkersloot at 152 and Mason Byrne at 182 placed third in Mankato.
Prunty defeated Cale Steuber of Fairmont/Martin County West 8-2 for third place. Donkersloot got his third with a 7-2 win over Watertown-Mayer’s William Elskamp. And Byrne pinned Alex Pearce of Watertown-Mayer in 51 seconds to capture third at his weight class.

Trojan Jacob Neuberger placed fourth at 195 pounds. Jaden Hennings was fifth at 138 and Marcos Herrera was fifth at 220. Worthington also got two sixth-place finishes as Ivan Martinez did it at 113 pounds and Preston Anderson at 170.
Hennings captured his fifth-place finish with a fall over Ashton Congdon of Watertown-Mayer in 1:56. Herrera beat Mason Theissen of Mankato West by 10-2 major decision for his fifth-place at 220.
Iowa Section 14
SIBLEY, Iowa -- Jose Flores (106 pounds), Trey Schuck (126), Mitchell Paca (138) and Hunter DeJong (195) placed first in their respective weight classes for Sibley-Ocheyedan.
Flores got his first with a 17-1 technical fall against Korey Knoblock of West Lyon in 4:09. Schuck pinned Hunter Abrahamson of Okoboji in 1:16 at 126. Paca decisioned William Kooi of West Lyon 5-1. And DeJong pinned Kaleb Schnurr of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in 4:55.
Mario Martinez placed second for the Generals at 113. Austin Kruger (170) and Alberto Ortiz (220) placed third. Trevor Kruger finished fourth at 285. Grant Paca (120) and Trey Fife (160) were sixth.
