MCC, Luverne advance in section baseball

Murray County Central in Section 3A and Luverne in Section 3AA advanced in their elimination brackets Thursday to stay alive for possible state tournament berths.
In Milroy, Murray County Central defeated Dawson-Boyd 12-1 in the elimination bracket semifinals. The Rebels will next play Lac qui Parle Valley Saturday at 2:30 p.m. in Milroy.
Lac qui Parle Valley beat Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove 15-3 in the other semifinal contest.
The winner of the MCC-LQPV game will play for the elimination bracket title on Tuesday against the loser of Saturday's winners bracket game between MACCRAY and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. The championship is set for June 9 at a location yet to be determined.
Luverne topped Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta 3-1 Thursday in Marshall and will face Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Marshall's Legion Field for the right to play for the elimination bracket title on Tuesday.
ACGC eliminated Redwood Valley 5-1 on Thursday.
The winner of Tuesday's game will face the winner of Saturday's winner's bracket game between Paynesville and Fairmont. The championship will be June 9 at Marshall's Legion Field.
