Powers, Mahlberg lead WHS golf teams

Big South meet
Big South Conference West teams met in Marshall and Windom on Monday. The girls were in Marshall where Redwood Valley prevailed, and the boys were in Windom where Marshall placed first.
Julian Brown and Mila Jenniges of Redwood Valley placed 1-2 individually for the girls, shooting rounds of 39 and 41. Worthington was led by Lilly Mahlberg with a 48. Madison Beckmann with 49, Kendall Nixon with 50, Ellie Weg with 53 and Tarren Spartz with 54 also turned in solid scores for the Trojans.
Redwood Valley totaled 176 strokes. Worthington had 200, Marshall 202 and Luverne 221.
Worthington's Logan Powers and Marshall's Luke Ehlers shared medalist honors for the boys, each with 37. Other Worthington scores: Tyler Jaycox 39, Spenser Nickel 46, Andrew Mulder 46, Drew Dorcey 46 and Spenser Braaksma 48.
Marshall had 158 strokes, Worthington 168, Pipestone Area 169 and Luverne 171.
HL-O-F/W-WG vs. SWC/E
In Adrian, Kelli Renneke of Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove carded a 52. Teammate Ellyson Bang had 53, Southwest Christian/Edgerton's Brielle Vis had 56 and HL-O-F/W-WG's Madelyn Koep had a 57.
For the boys, HL-O-F/W-WG scores were Sawyer Drent 37, Carter Drent 45, Neil Kuehl 47 and Brady Ross 47.
