For the Worthington Trojans baseball team, a new start arrives at just the right time. WHS has played an up and down regular season baseball schedule, and the team is due for an “up” moment. It won’t be easy to make it happen, however.

Worthington is the No. 8 seed in the eight-team Section 2AAA tourney. The Trojans will play a first-round game on Wednesday (June 1) against the No. 1 seed, Mankato West, at 5 p.m. on the campus of Minnesota State University in Mankato.

Other first-round games have New Prague (seeded fourth) playing Jordan (5) at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Park Stadium, Mankato East (2) playing St. Peter (7) at 5 p.m. at Mankato East’s Wolverton Field, and Marshall (3) taking on Albert Lea (6) at Marshall Legion Field at 7 p.m.
