Section baseball teams advance and fall

Section high school baseball games got under way Saturday in 3A and 3AA.
In Section 3A, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton and Murray County Central stayed undefeated in the tournament in the southern half of the bracket. In Section 3AA, Fairmont and Redwood Valley accomplished the feat in the south sub-section.
Fairmont entered the AA tournament with a bye, then defeated Luverne 1-0. Redwood Valley beat Pipestone Area 8-0 in its first-round game before dispatching Windom Area 12-3 in the second round.
Fairmont and Redwood Valley square off Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Legion Field in Marshall.
Windom Area edged St. James Area 9-8 in a first-round game.
In the elimination bracket on Tuesday, Luverne takes on Windom Area at 7 p.m. in the Irish Yard in Milroy.
In Section 3A, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton beat Edgerton/Southwest Christian 12-2 in the first round, then defeated Tracy-Milroy-Balaton 4-3 in the next round Saturday. Murray County Central was a 6-5 winner over Wabasso in the first round and a 14-9 winner over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in the second round.
R-T-R and MCC play at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Milroy.
RRC/W-WG eliminated Adrian/Ellsworth 6-2 in a first-round game.
In the elimination bracket on Tuesday, Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and RRC/W-WG play at 5 p.m. in the Irish Yard.
