Sections 3A, 3AA set to begin baseball tournaments

Sections 3A, and 3AA are drawn up and ready to go for Minnesota high school baseball.

Both sections have first-round games on Saturday (May 28) and wind down to championships on June 9. After the first round, the tournaments are double-elimination affairs.

In Section 3A south on Saturday, Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (the No. 1 seed) plays Edgerton/Southwest Christian (8) at 11 a.m. in Ruthton. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (4) plays Minneota (5) at 1 p.m. in Ruthton. Murray County Central (2) takes on Wabasso (7) at 11 a.m. in Slayton. And Adrian/Ellsworth (3) plays Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove (6) at 1 p.m. in Slayton.

Winners advance to play second-round games at 3:30 p.m. in Ruthton and Slayton, also on Saturday.

MACCRAY is the No. 1 seed from the north sub-section.


In the south sub-section of Section 3AA, top-seeded Fairmont has a bye on Saturday. Luverne (4) plays Jackson County Central (5) at noon in Fairmont. Windom Area (2) plays St. James Area (7) at 11 a.m. in Windom. And Redwood Valley (3) contends with Pipestone Area (6) at 1 p.m. in Windom.

Winners advance to play second-round games at 2 p.m. in Fairmont and 3:30 p.m. in Windom on Saturday.

Paynesville is the No. 1 seed in the north.
