Thursday sports roundup: E/SWC softball team wins another conference crown

In area high school sports on Thursday, the Edgerton/Southwest Christian girls softball team added another milestone to its already impressive list. In baseball, Adrian/Ellsworth beat Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove.

EDGERTON — The Edgerton/Southwest Christian softball program continues to amass titles. On Thursday, the Flying Dutchmen defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 18-0 in four innings to grab its fifth Red Rock Conference championship in a row.
The Dutchmen have won 54 consecutive conference games. Their last conference loss was May 3, 2016, in Mountain Lake.
On Thursday, sophomore Maddie Feikema tossed a no-hitter, facing 13 batters. She struck out six.
E/SWC had 10 hits. Alyda Vande Griend was 4-for-4 with four RBIs and three runs. Ana Veldkamp had three RBIs and three runs.
The Dutch are 12-3 on the season.

ADRIAN — In a game called in the sixth inning due to threatening weather, Adrian/Ellsworth got two hits each from Evan Lenz, Dawson Krahling and Breyer Hieronimus.
Lenz was the winning pitcher.
Dan Kleven had two hits for RRC/W-WG.
