Thursday sports roundup: MCC wins baseball thriller; Mahlberg, Mulder lead WHS golf; SWC/E sweeps RRC track

Baseball
MCC 4, A/E 3
SLAYTON — Christian Tentinger, who hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give his team a 3-2 lead over Adrian/Ellsworth, scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh as he took off for home plate from third base as a balk was called on A/E pitcher Ky Ruppert.
Peyton Coulter got the win in relief of Abe Paulzine. Ruppert took the loss in relief of Dawson Krahling.
Evan Lenz homered for the Dragons. Conner DeGreefe went 3-for-3 for MCC.
Softball
Luverne 4, E/SWC 0
EDGERTON — Gracie Nath won a tough pitcher's duel against Edgerton/Southwest Christian's Paris Van Dyke.
Both pitchers went the distance, but Luverne scored three unearned runs and won via shutout.
Nath struck out 13 batters and allowed just a fourth-inning single to Makenna Moss.
Ella Reisdorfer, Carly Olson, and Anika Boll each had one hit for Luverne. Billi Connell was credited with two safeties and two runs batted in. Payton Behr was responsible for a run with a sacrifice fly.
Luverne moved to 17-3 with the win, and E/SW dropped to 12-4.
MCC 18, A/E 7
ELLSWORTH — Hiltyn Heitkamp homered for Adrian/Ellsworth, but Murray County Central won the game.
Abby Loosbrock had three hits and Atalie Rosenbrook had two for the Rebels. Mary Lou McNab was the winning pitcher.
Golf
Worthington at MCC
SLAYTON — Lilly Mahlberg and Andrew Mulder carded medalist rounds for Worthington in Slayton, with Mahlberg getting a 48 and Mulder getting a 47.
The Worthington girls defeated Murray County Central 211-219. The WHS boys had 191 strokes. MCC was incomplete.
Tyler Jaycox with a 45 and Spencer Braaksma with 48 helped the Trojan boys. Mia Nixon and Kendall Nixon both had 55s for the Worthington girls.
McCade Gillette had a 51 for the MCC boys. Ciera Tutt had 53, Elie Meyer 54 and Ava Johnson 55 for the MCC girls.
Track and field
Red Rock Conference
MOUNTAIN LAKE — Southwest Christian/Edgerton captured both the boys and girls team titles at the Red Rock Conference track and field meet.
The boys totaled 198 points, followed by Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey with 115, Adrian/Ellsworth 109, Hills-Beaver Creek 108.33, Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 81.33, Murray County Central 57 and Westbrook-Walnut Grove 24.
For the girls it was SWC/E 191.5, MCC 142.5, H-BC 129, HL-O/F 72.5, MLA/C 71, A/E 47 and W-WG 35.5.
Southwest Christian/Edgerton's Micah Schaap won four boys events, taking the 200-meter dash in 22.85, the 400 in 50.22, the long jump with a 21-2.5 leap, and the triple jump at 44-02.
Brynn Bakken won the 100 meters and 200 meters for H-BC. MCC's Amanda Overgaauw won the 400 meters and the 3200-meter run, and twin sister Ashley Overgaauw won the 800 meters and the 1600-meter run. SWC/E's Reece Wassink won the girls shot and discus events.
