Trojans' Jaycox moves on in section golf

BUFFALO LAKE -- Tyler Jaycox shot an 86 Thursday on the first day of the Section 3AA golf tournament at the Oakdale Golf Club to qualify for the second day of competition.

The Worthington High School junior will compete with a chance to qualify for state on Wednesday, June 1, again at Oakdale.

WHS teammates Andrew Mulder and Spenser Braaksma both shot a 92 Thursday. Spenser Nickel carded a 96.

The top five teams advance to Day Two competition. They include New London-Spicer, with a 311 on Day One, along with Minnewaska with 317, Marshall 322, Luverne 325 and Windom Area 328.

Charlie Hanson of Morris Area and Peyton Cochran of New London-Spicer were the top golfers Thursday, each with a 75. Noah Dietz of New London-Spicer had a 76. Owen Sudenga of Luverne also shot a 76.


The first day of the Section 3AA girls meet is Tuesday at Oakdale Golf Club. Both boys and girls tee off again in Day Two competition on Wednesday.
