LUVERNE -- Four Worthington High School boys basketball players scored in double figures Tuesday night in a win over Big South Conference rival Luverne. Gannon Ahrendt had a big night for Luverne, accounting for 32 points.
“Ugly,” WHS head coach CJ Nelson described the game. “We played a real good first half. We shared the ball, we knocked the ball down, we played really well inside.”
But the Trojans got in some foul trouble in the second half as Luverne stepped up the pressure.
Yet, Worthington persevered.
“Every time Luverne got the game under 10, we found ways to make a few good plays and get it back up again,” Nelson said.
The win pushed Worthington to 7-15 while dropping Luverne to 9-13.
