Worthington boys fourth in Section 2AA true team

MANKATO — The Worthington High School boys track and field team placed fourth Tuesday in the Section 2AA True Team meet at Mankato East High School.
The Trojans were just one point away from third.
East won the event with 416 points, followed by Jordan with 402, Faribault 364.5, Worthington 363.5, Fairmont 344.5, Belle Plaine 274, St. Peter 272, Waseca 261 and Marshall 231.5.
The Worthington 4x800-meter relay was a champion, winning that event in a time of 8:20.99. Also placing first was Trojan triple jumper Abagotte Opiew, with a 43-11.25 jump.
East also won the girls competition with 472 points. Next was Fairmont with 427, Belle Plaine 388.5, Waseca 365, Marshall 304, Jordan 302.5, Faribault 242, St. Peter 236 and Worthington 183.
Worthington's Brooklyn Scheitel-Taylor scored a first place in the 200-meter dash, in 26.92. Teammate Gora Newyouman won the triple jump in 32-09.0.
