An opening day snapshot of the 2023 Minnesota Twins
With a solid pitching staff and a talented group of young players to complement Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa, consistency and health will be contributing factors on how far the Twins go in 2023.
The 2023 Minnesota Twins season officially opens today with a redesigned logo on their caps in Kansas City, a righthander making his debut at the top of the pitching rotation and Byron Buxton marking his return to the starting lineup.
Pablo Lopez, who pitched for the Miami Marlins for five seasons, will take the mound for the Twins in the season opener. Buxton, who had his 2022 season end last August, returns to the batting order in the third spot.
After finishing third last year in the American League Central division, the Twins hope to secure a spot at the top, along with a spot in the playoffs. Most baseball writers are predicting Minnesota to finish second, behind the Cleveland Guardians, though the Twins could challenge last season's division winner.
