RRC beats HL-O/F 33-14 in regular season football finale


LAMBERTON -- Quarterback Tavion Ryker threw two touchdown passes and running back Jonah Hansen scored twice as Red Rock Central defeated Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 33-14 in both teams’ final game of the regular season Thursday night.

Ryker hit Hayden Determan on a 46-yard scoring pass to break a scoreless tie in the first quarter, then connected with Mason Irlbeck from 19 yards out before halftime. Hansen scored on carries of six and 20 yards, and Dominik Smith scored the game’s final touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard interception return.

Both of HL-O/Fulda’s touchdowns came in the first half. Matt Madsen scored on a nine-yard run and Eli Fest threw four yards to Brandon Hinkeldey for the second score.

Madsen finished with 11 carries for 41 yards, five tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception. Fest completed seven of 21 passes for 117 yards and was intercepted twice. Hinkeldey caught three passes for 69 yards.

Trevor King and Ethan Koep led HL-O/F in tackles with 10 apiece. King intercepted a pass, and one of Koep’s tackles was a sack.
