GARRETSON, S.D. -- In the second overtime, Adrian Dragons senior guard Brady Henning drilled a 3-point shot as time expired Saturday, giving his team a 72-71 victory over Garretson, S.D. in a high school boys basketball game.

Henning finished with 8 points. Teammates Christian Weidert and Ryan Wieneke paced the victorious Dragons with 18 points apiece. Skylar Polzine had eight rebounds.

Drew Blosmo of Garretson scored 41 points in the losing cause, and teammate Trever Fiegen had 15.


RRC 67, H-BC 28

LAMBERTON -- Host Red Rock Central connected on 68 percent of its field goals in the first half and routed Hills-Beaver Creek 67-28.

Brady Rasmussen had 17 points and eight assists, Sam Helmer had 16 points, Sam Hansen had 14 and Spencer Halland had 12.

Halland also had six rebounds and five steals.

Jax Wysong and Preston Wilhelmi had 8 points apiece for H-BC.

GARRETSON, S.D. -- Windom Area went across the border to beat Winner, S.D., as Wyatt Minion scored 21 points, Luke Gilbertson added 12 and Kaden Elder 11.

Vermillion 46, MCC 42 (OT)

SLAYTON -- Vermillion, S.D., defeated Murray County Central in overtime as AJ Plitzuweit led the way with 19 points and teammate Carter Larson scored 14.


The teams were deadlocked 37-37 after regulation.

Mason Woldt had 11 points and Tyler Groves had 10 for MCC. Woldt also had seven rebounds. Spencer Wajer had four assists.

MLA 73, Edgerton 48

EDGERTON -- Weston Osland and Spencer Khamvongsa scored 12 points apiece, and Abraham Stoesz and Sam Paulson both scored 10 to help Mountain Lake Area outscore Edgerton Public.

Trey Gilbertson scored 18 points for Edgerton. Tannan Groen had 12 and Marcus Vander Lugt had 10.

Gilbertson grabbed 14 rebounds and blocked three shots.

ACGC 72, Luverne 68

MINNEAPOLIS -- Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City outscored Luverne 42-33 in the second half and won by four at Target Center in Minneapolis.

Cole Claussen hit for 22 points for Luverne. The Cardinals’ Derek Lundgren had 20, and Mark Robinson chipped in with 10.

SWC 77, HL-O 50

OKABENA --- Putting all 12 of its varsity players in the scoring column, Southwest Christian rolled to a convincing 77-50 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena.

The Eagles (10-1) won for the eighth consecutive time and remained undefeated (7-0) in the Red Rock Conference. HL-O, which had won two games in a row, dropped to 3-10 and 1-5.

A.J. Vanderby was a force inside for SWC, notching 15 points, while Avery Pater (14), Jacob Van Dam (11) and Isaac Jasper (10) also scored double figures for the Eagles, who led 36-18 at halftime. Jasper finished with a team-leading six rebounds and Van Dam contributed five rebounds, five steals and four assists for SWC, which hosts Pipestone Area Tuesday.

Freshman Eli Fest scored a game-high 16 points for the Wildcats, along with four assists and a trio of steals. Malaki Walker tallied 11 points for HL-O, while freshman Gabe Villarreal nearly had a double-double with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Luverne and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City went to Target Center in Minneapolis to contend, and Luverne came out confidently on top.

Joci Oye scored 19 points to lead the Cardinals. Teammate Jadyn Anderson had six steals and four assists.

GARRETSON, S.D. -- Adrian outscored Garretson 24-16 in the second half but came up short.

Paige Bullerman and Lexi Slater tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Adrian. Slater had eight rebounds.

Lizzie Olson scored 21 points for Garretson.

Luverne 10, Willmar 0

LUVERNE -- Kasyn Kruse and Colby Crabtree scored twice, and six other Luverne Cardinals scored single goals in a one-sided win over Willmar.

Nick Harder, Jim Erickson, Coy Gonnerman, Declan Beers, Mark Sterrett and Gaige Nath also found the net.

LHS got off to a good start, leading 4-0 after the first period. All told, the Cards put 42 shots on goal to Willmar’s 15.

Waseca 5, Worthington 1

WASECA -- Hannah Barrie scored an even-strength goal for Worthington at the 5:43 mark in the second period, but it wasn’t enough as Waseca defeated the Trojans 5-1.

Waseca’s Isabella Sorenson scored the game’s first two goals in the second period after a scoreless first. Jayde Pederson, Clare Miller and Jacklynn Jevning also scored for the hosts.

Waseca out-shot Worthington 34-14.

W/RRC Duals

WABASSO -- The Adrian Dragons lost to ACGC 64-9, to Wabasso/Red Rock Central 48-22 and to Minneota 60-13 at the Wabasso/Red Rock Central Duals.

Three Dragons won twice.

Preston Nelson won two matches at 138 pounds, beating Jaxon Behm of ACGC 4-0 and Gabe Martin of W/RRC with a technical fall at 4:48. The Dragons’ Logan Taylor also won a pair of matches at 113, over Vander Mathiowetz of W/RRC 13-1 and over Johah Gruenes of Minneota by 4:44 tech fall. And Chandler Combs, at 145, beat Luke Wagner of W/RRC by fall at 3:59 and Tate Walerius of Minneota 17-4.



MCA Invite

WELCOME -- Brooklyn Schuett had a superlative day as the Jackson County Central gym team scored a first-place 140.2 points at the Martin County Area Invitational.

MCA placed second with 131.5 points, followed by Luverne with 127.175 and Blue Earth Area with 117.7.

Schuett won the vault (9.15) and balance beam (9.15) competitions while finishing first in the all-around with a 35.55 score. Teammate Abby Schneekloth was first on bars (8.8) and another Husky, Sydney Sadusky, was first on floor (9.0).

JCC’s Haley Tvinnereim was second on beam (8.9), Kendell Kapplinger second on bars (8.6) and Kenzie Luebben second on floor (8.875).
