Section 2AAA girls basketball: Worthington to play Mankato West

The Worthington Trojans will open the Section 2AAA girls basketball tournament on the road Tuesday against Mankato West.

Worthington is the No. 7 seed in the tourney. Waseca is No. 1, Mankato West is seeded second, Marshall third, New Ulm fourth, Hutchinson fifth, and Mankato East sixth.

The Trojans' game Tuesday is at 7 p.m. at Mankato West High School. In other first-round games, Hutchinson is at New Ulm and Mankato East is at Marshall.

The semifinals are March 2 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, at 6 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. Waseca, which has a first-round bye, plays the winner of the New Ulm/Hutchinson game at 6 p.m. The winner of the Worthington/Mankato West game plays the winner of Marshall/Mankato East at 7:45.

The championship is March 7 at GAC, starting at 7 p.m.
