Section 3A baseball: Loosbrock's gem not enough as Adrian falls to LQPV

MILROY -- Alex Loosbrock pitched a gem for Adrian as its season came to a close in a loss to Lac qui Parle Valley 6-4 in Section 3A baseball tournament loser's bracket action on Saturday in Milroy.

MILROY -- Alex Loosbrock pitched a gem for Adrian as its season came to a close in a loss to Lac qui Parle Valley 6-4 in Section 3A baseball tournament loser’s bracket action on Saturday in Milroy.

The first eight outs Loosbrock recorded were all strikeouts as he struck out 13 batters in six-and a-third innings and allowed three runs.

Loosbrock had to leave the game with one out in the sixth inning due to reaching his max pitches. Landon Rogers came in in relief and LQPV scored five runs to take a lead, the Dragons couldn’t overcome.

Nick Harder gave Adrian a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning with a two-run homer. Lac qui Parle Valley answered with a run in the top of the sixth to make it 2-1.

With the Dragons trailing 6-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Zack Loosbrock hit a 2-run homer, but they couldn’t scratch any more across. Zack Loosbrock was 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBIs.

Peyton Mortenson was 1-for-4 with 2 RBIs for LQPV, while Evan Benson was 2-for-4.

Lac qui Parle Valley moves on to face Wabasso on Tuesday in the loser's bracket final. The winner will play Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut grove for the section title on Thursday in Milroy.

Adrian's season comes to a close with a 15-8 record.
