Luverne is the top seed for the upcoming Section 3A boys hockey tournament.

The tourney opens on Tuesday with three games. Windom Area (seeded eighth) hosts Fairmont (9) at 7:30 p.m. At 7 p.m., Redwood Valley (6) hosts Morris Area (11) and Willmar (7) hosts Worthington (10).

If the Trojans, who own a 2-19 record, get past 3-22 Willmar, they will play second-seeded Marshall Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. in Marshall.

Other quarterfinal games on Feb. 23 have Luverne hosting the winner of Windom Area/Fairmont, New Ulm (4) hosting Hutchinson (5) and Litchfield (3) hosting the winner of Redwood Valley/Morris Area.

Luverne is 18-5-1 on the season.

Semifinals are set for Feb. 25 at Lund Arena on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The finals are also at GAC on March 1.
