No surprises in the first round of the Section 3A South volleyball tournament Monday night.

Every match went just three sets. Eighth-seeded Adrian beat ninth-seeded Edgerton, Southwest Christian (5) beat Ellsworth (12), Red Rock Central (7) took care of Westbrook-Walnut Grove (10) and Heron Lake-Okabena (6) swept Fulda (11).

In quarterfinal action on Friday, No. 1 Tracy-Milroy-Balaton hosts Adrian, Hills-Beaver Creek (4) hosts Southwest Christian, Windom Area (2) hosts Red Rock Central and Murray County Central (3) hosts Heron Lake-Okabena.

All games begin at 7 p.m.

Adrian 3, Edgerton 0 ADRIAN -- Kasie Tweet has six kills and served 10-for-11 with two aces as Adrian won three straight from Edgerton 25-11, 25-14, 26-24.

Miah Kunkel added five kills for the Dragons and teammate Mayssa Tweet was 24-for-24 serving with four aces and 10 set assists. Bailey Lonneman had six kills and four blocks.

For Edgerton, Jayme Bleyenburg served 10-for-11 with two aces and had 19 set assists. Chynna Berning had seven kills, 13 digs, two blocks, and served 7-for-7. Madison Heard had six kills and Lauren Sankey had 16 digs.

SWC 3, Ellsworth 0 EDGERTON -- Sydney Van Hulzen put 17 of 19 serves in play and had eight kills to help Edgerton Southwest Christian defeat Ellsworth in straight sets, 25-10, 25-13, 25-15.

Jazlynn Prins led the team with 14 kills and Bella Niemeyer had 11.

Brooklyn DeKam had 11 digs for the Eagles while teammates Olivia Veldkamp and Shayla Prins contributed 17 set assists and two ace blocks, respectively.

Devin Dreesen had three kills and one service ace for Ellsworth. Sierra Smith had two service aces. Kallie Chapa and Madyson Domeyer each had a kill.

RRC 3, W-WG 0 LAMBERTON -- Red Rock Central swept Westbrook-Walnut Grove 25-13, 25-22, 25-10. Nicole Schroepfer led the way with nine kills, six digs and three block assists.

Katelyn Rogotzke was 17-for-17 serving with two aces and Hannah DeCock was 11-for-12 with an ace.

DeCock also had six kills and three block assists. Kennedi Janssen had 17 set assists for the Falcons.

For W-WG, Alli VanDeKieft was 8-for-9 serving with three aces, and she also had five kills. Gracie Wahl was 8-for-9 serving with two aces and Emma Wahl was 8-for-8.

Brittany Erickson had five kills. Emma Wahl had 10 digs. Halle Steen had 13 set assists and two solo blocks.

HL-O 3, Fulda 0 OKABENA -- Kiana Leighty helped Heron Lake-Okabena to a victory over Fulda with 15 digs and 14-for-14 serving for two aces. She also had 10 kills.

The Wildcats prevailed 25-9, 25-16 and 25-18.

Samantha Freking had 15 digs for the Cats and Anna Volk added 13. Jessica VanWesten was 13-for-14 serving with three aces. Hailey Liepold had 11 kills and three blocks. Tessla Crowell had 26 set assists.

Camryn Baumhoefner had seven kills, two ace blocks and two ace serves for Fulda. Mackenzie Evers had four kills and two digs. Frances Piper and Camille Paulzine each had five digs. Evany Luna had four kills and Emily Schroer had 14 set assists.
