Section 3AA boys basketball: Matchups made

New London-Spicer in the north and Saint James Area in the south have secured No. 1 seeds for the Section 3AA boys basketball tournament, which tips off Saturday.

New London-Spicer in the north and Saint James Area in the south have secured No. 1 seeds for the Section 3AA boys basketball tournament, which tips off Saturday.

Here are the first-round matchups (all games begin at 7 p.m.):

In the north, Montevideo (seeded eighth) is at New London-Spicer (1), Paynesville Area (5) is at Redwood Valley (4), Benson (7) is at Minnewaska Area (2), and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City (6) is at Morris Aera/Chokio-Alberta (3).

In the south, Windom Area (8) is at Saint James Area (1), Fairmont (5) is at Martin County West (4), Tracy-Milroy-Balaton (7) is at Jackson County Central (2), and Luverne (6) is at Pipestone Area (3).

Quarterfinal action is March 7, witih semifinals set for March 9 at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

The section championship is March 14 at SMSU beginning at 5 p.m.
