WINDOM -- Windom Area track and field star Delaney Smith again -- for the fifth time this season -- broke her own school record in the shot put in a meet in Windom on Thursday. The senior threw the ball 45 feet, eight inches in a meet involving the Eagles, Jackson County Central, Blue Earth Area, St. James Area and Redwood Valley.

Smith also won the discus with a throw of 124-6. The Windom Area girls also won three of four relay events -- the 800 meters, the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters -- and Gracie Bucher was involved in all three.
Eagles Lucy Stevens won the 200-meter dash (28.15), and Jadyn Wormstadt won the 800 meters (2:48.50) and the high jump (5-0). Other area girls winners included Jackson County Central's Olivia Anderson in the 1,600-meter run (6:12.02) and Peyton Hanson in the pole vault (8-6).
For the boys, Jackson County Central's Trevin Ssali-Gaustad won the 110-meter hurdles (16.64) and the triple jump (40-6), JCC's Ridge Van Westen won the 300-meter hurdles (44.57), and the Huskies' Evan Insichienmay won the high jump (6-2). Windom Area won the 1,600-meter relay.
