Boys soccer: Worthington wins opener, 6-4, over Fairmont
FAIRMONT -- Jon Keodouangsy scored four goals and the Worthington Trojans boys soccer team defeated Fairmont 6-4 Thursday night in its season opener.
Keodouangsy, one of the top scorers in the state in his junior season, got offensive help Thursday from Anthony Euceda and Victor Alvarez, who each scored one goal.
The Trojans competed in the state tournament last season.
Ben Lopez played in goal for WHS in the first half, and Ricky Rodriguez tended the net in the second half.
Fairmont outscored Worthington 2-1 in the first half.
“It’s a good result to get the season started,” said Worthington head coach Juan Flores. “We have some things to work on defensively. A couple of goals were mistakes on defense.”
The Trojans appeared a little anxious in the first half, but settled down in the second, said the coach. “Second half, we calmed down a little bit more, and we controlled the game.”
