Southwest Minnesota Christian girls basketball advance to Section 3A championship

The Eagles defeated Edgerton 66-50. SWC will play Minneota in championship game on March 10.

MARSHALL – Southwest Minnesota Christian defeated Edgerton 66-50 on Friday in the Section 3A girls basketball semifinals. The Eagles will play Minneota in the championship game on March 10.

The Trojans finish their boys basketball season with a 21-7 record, and graduate six seniors in Abagotte Opiew, Marenono Opiew, Charles Brands, Nasim Zeidi, Mikele Walu, and Omot Okony.
Minnesota West plays rival Rochester in the championship game on Saturday at 5 p.m.

The leading scorer for SWC was Makenna Moss with 14 points. Jocelyn Barron scored 13 points, Madyson Fey scored nine, and Ana Veldkamp scored seven.

Makenzie Pap had six points and six assists.

Edgerton shot 38 percent and made 19 field goals on 49 attempts. Edgerton outrebounded SWC 34-26, and had 15 offensive boards.

Southwest Christian defeated Minneota 62-49 on February 9. Pap set a school record for assists with 14.
