Sioux Falls senior running back Thuro Reisdorfer won the South Division Preseason Offensive Player of the Year honors, and Augustana senior defensive back Eli Weber won South Division Preseason Defensive Player of the year.

SMSU senior running back Jesse Sherwood (Minneapolis) and SMSU senior linebacker Onte Burns (Plymouth) were chosen as “players to watch.”

Prep Bowl moved to December

High school football fans will have to wait another week to see who will be crowned the 2022 Minnesota state champions. The Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL), in discussions with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association, has moved the Prep Bowl back one week to Dec. 2 and 3 at U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

Typically, Prep Bowl games are played over the Thanksgiving weekend. But this year, the Minnesota Vikings have a Nov. 24 game scheduled against the New England Patriots.

High school state tournament semifinal games are scheduled for Nov. 17-19 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The start of practice for Minnesota high school football teams is Aug. 15.
