ADRIAN -- Springfield quarterback Decker Scheffler went 8-of-12 passing for 162 yards and two touchdowns in less than ideal conditions on a cold and rainy Thursday night.
The Tigers beat Adrian 20-7 in a high school football game.
Springfield scored on a kickoff in the first quarter as Jordan Toll returned the ball 85 yards for the touchdown. Scheffler threw his first touchdown pass in the first quarter, finding Mason Leonard to give the Tigers a 14-0 lead.
Adrian wouldn’t score until the fourth quarter. Ian Stamer connected with Quentin Wolf to cut the Tigers lead to seven.
Scheffler scored his second touchdown two minutes later on a pass to Nolan Hovland for the games final score of 20-7.

Adrian controlled the ball for twice the amount of time Springfield controlled it. The Dragons had 183 total rushing yards on 43 attempts. Brandon Schnoor had 26 attempts for 127 yards, and Isaac Bullerman had 28 yards on eight attempts. Stamer went 4-for-6 passing for 29 yards and a touchdown.
