St. James downs Worthington girls tennis team

WORTHINGTON -- The powerful St. James Area girls tennis team won all seven matches against the Worthington Trojans Thursday at the middle school tennis courts.

At No. 1 singles, the Saints' Ellie Becker defeated Kessey Aljets 6-0, 6-1, and at No. 2 singles it was Jaelyn Haler beating Worthington's Marah Darling 6-1, 6-0. At third singles, Mya Hanson topped Ivy Jenson 6-3, 6-0, and at fourth singles Eva Romsdahl beat Brooke Nordseth 6-0, 6-0.

St. James also won each doubles match in straight sets. Gabriela Trapero and Sailor Mohlenbrock won 6-1, 6-3 over Bailey Newman and Stephie Bauman at No. 1 doubles. At No. 2, Samantha Tetzloff and Allison Bluedorn won 6-0, 6-3 over Calah Riley and Madison Shaffer. And at No. 3, Sofia Solorzano and Emma Anderson won 6-0, 6-2 over Madison Johnson and Riley Nickel.
