MINNEAPOLIS -- The Marshall Tigers defeated Alexandria 10-9, scoring two runs in the seventh inning, to capture third place in the Minnesota state Class AAA baseball tournament Friday at Siebert Field at the University of Minnesota.
Marshall lost its semifinal contest earlier Friday, 7-6, to Waconia on a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning by Robert Smith.
Logan Tomasek was 3-for-5 for Marshall in the third-place game with four RBIs. Ryan VanMoer, Dylan Criquet-Danielson and Jacob Hess had two hits each.
