State True Team gymnastics is in Worthington

WORTHINGTON – The top 10 teams in Minnesota Class A high school gymnastics will be in Worthington on Saturday (Jan. 28) for the state True Team meet. Participating teams are Becker, Benson, Big Lake, Byron, Detroit Lakes, Mankato West, Melrose, New London-Spicer, St. Peter, and Worthington.

The meet starts at noon in the gymnastics wing of the Area Learning Center on North Crailsheim Drive.

Price of admission for adults is $6, and the cost for students is $4. Passes and District 518 Student IDs are accepted. Youth under the age of 8 must be supervised in the facility at all times.

The Worthington gymnastics team is in the midst of another outstanding year. The True Team meet will feature many of the best gymnasts in the state of Minnesota.

The Worthington High School gymnastics team, which just completed competing in the state tournament, had five athletes named to the 2023 All-Big South Conference team. And the WHS girls hockey team saw one player selected for its team, senior Riley Nickel.

The True Team meet is scored differently from other high school meets in Minnesota. At the True Team meet, all five performances on an event count for scoring. In a ‘typical’ meet the highest four scores are recorded, and the lowest score is dropped.
