EDGERTON -- State tournament fever has arrived at Southwest Minnesota Christian High School. Both the girls and the boys basketball teams are gunning for state tourney berths in Section 3A championship games.

The Eagle girls will play Minneota on Thursday in a 7 p.m. tipoff in Pipestone. Southwest Christian is 18-3 and Minneota -- the top-ranked team in Class A -- is 21-0.

In a regular season game, Minneota defeated Southwest by a 55-46 score. The Vikings are led by senior guard Abby Hennen, who recently scored her 2,000th career point.

The two teams are very familiar with each other. For the last three seasons, in fact, Minneota beat Southwest Christian in the Section 3A championship game, winning 82-74 in 2018, 65-47 in 2019 and 78-50 last season.

The SWC boys (19-2) will take on Central Minnesota Christian (17-4) on Friday, 7 p.m., in Redwood Falls. The teams did not meet in the regular season.
