Boys tennis: O'Gorman JV beats Luverne 5-2

LUVERNE -- Sioux Falls O'Gorman's JV boys tennis team won three of four singles matches and two of three doubles matches to defeat Luverne 5-2 on Wednesday.

Luverne's only singles win came at No. 4 as Pierce Cunningham bested O'Gorman's Ben Sweetman 7-6, 7-5. The Cardinals also won at No. 2 doubles with Jordan Winter and Carson Ehde teaming up to top Levi Scott and Charles Bill 7-5, 7-5.

The Cards' Matthew Jelken lost 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 to Joe Gellerman at No. 1 singles. Graham Cunningham lost 6-0, 6-3 to Liam Sarmen at No. 2 singles. And Colin Schoeneman lost 6-3, 6-0 to Alex Mohama at No. 3 singles.

Luverne No. 1 doubles team Matt Sehr and Cole Stoltenberg took on O'Gorman's Mate Sanchez and Grant Smith, with the Sioux Falls duo winning 6-3, 6-3. O'Gorman's No. 3 doubles squad of August Schneekloth and Sam Hayden beat Luverne's Griffen Jarchow and Blake Frahm 6-3, 5-7, 12-10.
